Euromillion lottery win: This is what £161 million can buy you today

Colin and Chris Weir have scooped Europe's biggest ever lottery win, with their £161 million jackpot.
Here, we explain what they could buy with the money and put the sum into context.

1. The win is the equivalent of 0.16 per cent of Scotland's Gross Domestic Product for 2009, or 7per cent of the entire value of Scotland's agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing industry in that year.
2. The Weirs have become Scotland's 21st richest citizens, as ranked by the Sunday Times Rich List.
3. If the Weirs were to give away all their money to the citizens of Largs, the seaside town where they live, each resident would receive £14,323.
4. They can buy the Blair Estate, an 18-room Grade 1 listed castle, set in 1250 acres, which comes with a pheasant shoot, 4 farms and is on the market for £8m, just one-twentieth of their win. It's down the road from where they live.
5. Or they could buy 80 Islands of Cumbrae, just off the coast from Largs. It came up for sale just two years ago.
6. The money would allow you to stay in the most expensive suite at the Gleneagles Hotel, the £2,040-a-night Royal Lochnagar Suite, for 216 years.
7. They could buy 11 Big Ideas, the Millennium-funded interactive centre in Irvine, a few miles from where Mr and Mrs Weir live. The building was devoted to invention and inventors. However, it closed in 2003 with large debts after it failed to attract many visitors. Perhaps they could revive it.
8. The money could also buy nine Falkirk Wheels -- the rotary connector, an incredible piece of engineering which links the Forth and Clyde canals.
9. Last year Meanwhile Glenfiddich, released 50 bottles of 50-year-old single malt at £10,000 a bottle. The Weirs could buy all of the bottles 322 times over. Or, in fact, they could buy Diageo's new £5m Falkirk distillery, given planning permission last year, 32 times over.

So now what's your plan to be able to do any of these or just buy yourself a little home in these tough times?
